Regelmässige Leser werden wissen worum es geht. Hier kommt die dritte Episode der großartigen Arte Web-Doku “New York Minute”. Diesmal dreht es sich um den Einfluss der Wirtschaftskrise und die unterschiedlichen Kulturen, welche im Stadtteil Queens verschmelzen. U.a. mit DJ Mista Sinista (X-ecutioners).

Nach Teil 1 “Midnight Marauder” hier die zweite Episode der sechsteiligen Arte Doku “New York Minute”. Schon die der erste Teil war sehr gut und deshalb werde ich auch alle Teile hier im Blog präsentieren. Schaut doch auch mal bei der begleitenen Enzyklopädie vorbei!
Damn, die Ankündigungen und die Teaser von der sechteiligen Web-Doku “New York Minute” sind irgendwie an mir vorbei gegangen. Egal, die erste Episode mit dem Titel “Midnight Marauder” ist ab sofort mit deutschen Untertiteln online! Die nächsten Parts werden folgend im Wochentakt veröffentlicht. Zusätzlich erscheint am 27.10 eine Enzyklopädie, welche dreißig Jahre Rapkultur in Videos, Tönen, Texten und Bildern zusammengefasst. Man darf also gespannt sein! Nächste Inhalte sind u.a. ehemalige Kindersoldaten in Staten Island, Bootlegers am Times Square, Biker der Bronx oder Graffiti-Artists aus Uptown.
Die Eagles haben es wohl einmal am besten ausgedrückt: „In einer Minute in New York, da kann sich alles verändern. / In einer Minute in New York kann alles eigenartig werden.“ Denn hier vergeht die Zeit schneller als anderswo – und in sechzig Sekunden kann sich das Schicksal zum Guten wie zum Schlechten wenden. Das ARTE Web-Event New York Minute erzählt ab 20. Oktober von einer Stadt und ihrer Legende.

Zur Abwechslung gibt es hier mal einen Kurzfilm, den ich letztens entdeckt habe. “The Astronomer’s Dream” ist eine animierter Kurzfilm von Malcolm Sutherland, der mich irgendwie an das großartige Spiel “Machinarium” erinnert.

Die DVD erschien zwar schon im letzten Jahr, aber ab sofort kann man die 60-minütige Doku von Sebastian Peiter auch kostenlos bei Babelgum schauen! Gefeatured werden bekannte Namen wie Banksy, Futura, Os Gemeos, Space Invader oder Zevs. Ich habe die Doku zwar noch nicht komplett gesehen, aber der Auszug aus dem Pressetext klingt auf jeden Fall interessant:
A new generation of street artists are the latest hot property of art collectors and advertising brands. Featuring Futura 2000, Rammellzee, Banksy, Os Gemeos, Space Invader, Barnstormers, Espo, WK Interact, Zevs, Blek Le Rat, André, Noki, Miss Van and Eine. Filmed in New York, London, Paris, Sao Paulo and Tokyo the documentary introduces the graffiti-inspired street art pioneers Futura, Rammellzee and Blek Le Rat. Art patron Agnés B and art curator Jerome Sans comment on the early days of Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat, when graffiti changed the streets of New York and the urban landscapes of the rest of the world. The film portrays a new generation of street artists led by UK stencil artist Banksy, whose artworks achieve record prices at auction houses like Sotheby’s and who is collected by Damien Hirst and celebrities Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt. Die sehenswerte Dokumente über DIY-Artists und Streetart-Künstler ist vor einigen Tagen bei Youtube aufgetaucht und kann dort in neun Parts komplett gesehen werden! Mit dabei sind Leute wie Aaron Rose, Ed Templeton, Jo Jackson und Shepard Fairey.

In the early 1990′s a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery.
